Frequently Asked Questions

Is it safe to be a mentor?

Safety is extremely important to MentorBuddies. When a parent reaches out to you to learn about your skills, you should ask any questions of the parent you need to be comfortable. When you arrange your first lesson you may wish to do it in a public place like a coffee shop, library or playground/field. You may also wish to arrange a phone or Skype call with the parent prior to making any arrangements. If you are under the age of 18, you should also make sure your parent or guardian is involved in these decisions and aware of any appointments you set up. If you ever feel that you’re in an uncomfortable situation, you should excuse yourself immediately.
